- Participants are requested to register their project by January 31, 2016
- Participants are requested to develop a product by May 31, 2016
- Single or team participants will be accepted
- Participants must be enrolled in the third and fourth grade of Italian Licei
- The product can assume any form: extended written composition, poem, video, music, monologue, theater piece, report of a live activity, record of interviews, or whatever will come out from the creativity of participants to convey their experience or message
- The product must be publicly presentable in a time lapse of 10 minutes, though it may be accompanied by a written report
- The product must be presentable in English, but a short abstract, or subtitles, must be provided in Italian
- The participant, by submission, gives free of charge royalties and authorizes the publication of the product in any form
- The selection of the presented works will happen in two stages:
- For each participating school, an internal panel will select the three best works, by the beginning of September 2016
- At territory level, the second selection will be done by a commission composed by teachers of Liceo Majorana and of other schools by the end of September 2016
- The selected works will be publicly presented in November 2016 in front of a Jury composed by Richard Mollica and members of the Global Mental Health Faculty, in the framework of a party where contestant’s families will be present
- As evaluation criteria, the Commissions and the Jury will emphasize quality rather than the subject chosen. The following aspects will be taken into account as positive. The presented work is:
- engaging and inspirational
- original and creative
- relevant for the overall prize theme and authorizes
- effectively communicated/artistically relevant
- showing personal commitment/involvement
- describing or proposing concrete, possibly useful actions
- showing positive growth both at personal or at community level
- giving correct and extensive information
- First, Second and third Prize consist of a journey to Boston which will include five days of activities in the framework of Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (HPRT) at Massachussets General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and activities organized with the help of the Italian Consulate in Boston. There may be an identical Fourth an Fifth Prize, according to the generosity of our sponsors
- After the proclamation of the winners, any eventual winning team will declare which member will leave to Boston in representation of the whole team
